How to back up your data

A backup is useful not only before a repair. It protects important files if a drive fails, data is deleted accidentally, or malware infects the system.

Use two storage locations

Keep a copy on an external drive or reliable cloud storage. For important data, it is best to have at least two copies in different places.

Check your backups

Open several files from the backup from time to time to make sure they are really available. Before handing in a laptop, also tell the technician about any important data.
